Why are we quarantining emails?
Quarantine prevents messages that have a high probability of being spam, phishing, or malware from going into your mailbox. Quarantine is a critical component of email security, helping to protect users from potential threats.
This precautionary measure aims to minimise email security threats and protect users.
Why are some emails quarantined and not others?
Quarantine isolates suspicious or potentially harmful emails and file types (ex: apk, app, appx, arj and others) and prevents them from reaching your inbox.
You will receive a daily email notification from Microsoft if any emails have been quarantined that day. On the quarantine page, users can see why the message was held, when it was received, and click to release the message to their inbox.
I have a legitimate email, why is it in my quarantine folder?
Every email that comes in is evaluated to know whether it is email or spam. A legitimate email that includes improper server configuration, many links to various websites, content, attachments, etc.
How is quarantine improving?
Microsoft is introducing a one-click feature to block unwanted emails and allow trusted ones. This will enable users to quickly eliminate any persistent spam or unwanted messages.
Users will also be able to quickly allow trusted ones, preventing them from going into quarantine. Users can also review why emails were quarantined.
