Employee Well-Being

Every staff and faculty member deserves to work in an environment that is inclusive, safe, and supportive. Beyond that, we want McMaster employees to enjoy working at McMaster and are passionate about their work.

Working with Human Resources, leaders, and staff throughout the University, we work toward ensuring staff and faculty have the supports and opportunities they need to thrive at work and that McMaster’s EDI principles are embedded in everything we do.

Everything we do is to ensure we provide the best possible environment for our students to learn, conduct research and gain the skills needed to make a transformative impact on our world.

We think of McMaster’s campus as a “Living Laboratory”: we work with our academic community to better intertwine academic pathways and university operations toward an increasingly sustainable and modern campus that allows all our students to achieve their goals.

 

Environmental Stewardship/Sustainability

McMaster is committed to transforming our campus into a living laboratory for sustainability. From transforming our operational practices to be more sustainable in areas such as infrastructure, water and energy, to responsible investing and sustainable procurement, to improving waste reduction and recycling: every year we move closer to being a carbon-free campus.

We facilitate collaborations across campus and between staff, faculty, students and others to achieve McMaster’s and department and unit-level goals. We are always exploring and developing new ways to streamline and modernize our services for the best user experience.

The VP and her team work with our local Hamilton community and community-based organizations, the City of Hamilton, and many levels of government to ensure we’re operating and growing sustainably and responsibly and addressing the needs of the University and our surrounding community.

Ensuring Financial Health

Operations and Finance ensures that McMaster continues to be financially healthy and growing in a responsible and sustainable matter. From finding alternative sources of revenue to supporting the budgets of the university, Operations and Finances provide reliable financial information, facilitate financial strategies and monitor the overall financial health of the University.
